The Story of the Shot

I got word from a friend one evening that aurora activity was visible here in Montana. Despite having to be up early for work the next day, I figured it was worth a shot. Getting to photograph the aurora over the mountains was a dream come true! We headed out to a spot north of Gardiner and watched in awe as the lights danced overhead. And then, appearing in a huge arc behind us, the unusual STEVE phenomenon lit the sky up in a dramatic band of white and purple. (Check out this article to read more about the mysterious STEVE phenomenon.) This photo features a band of “conventional” aurora mixing with a band of STEVE over the Gallatin mountains near Yellowstone.

Print Type

METAL: Metal prints feature dye directly infused onto a thin sheet of aluminum. They are sleek and modern, featuring vibrant colors and an almost magical luminescence. Because they are made from a solid sheet of metal, they are waterproof and scratch resistant. Also, no framing is required for metal prints! Simply mount the print directly to your wall (mounting hardware is included with each print).

PAPER: Paper prints are un-framed and include just the print itself. The buyer is responsible for matting and framing the print once it has been delivered. That way, you can use a frame that you already have, or choose your own custom frame to better match your existing décor.

PLEASE NOTE: All prints ship directly from my print lab partner and are therefore not able to be signed. If you are interested in a signed print, please contact me to place a custom order. Signed prints usually cost slightly more since I need to have the print shipped twice (once from the print lab to me, and again from me to you).

Shipping

All orders ship for free. Please allow 2-4 weeks total for production and shipping/delivery. At this time, I am only able to ship to the contiguous 48 US states. Any orders with a shipping address outside of this area will be canceled and refunded.
