Apparently today is #WorldRelaxationDay. I tip my Apparently today is #WorldRelaxationDay. I tip my hat to this lazy black bear, who seems to be positively overflowing with holiday spirit. She was taking a well-deserved break from keeping an eye on her mischievous cubs who were busy romping around up the hill. May all of your days be as relaxing as this moment, Ms. Bear.
On a recent trip down to the Tetons, Aleksa and I On a recent trip down to the Tetons, Aleksa and I were treated to some spectacular sunset light behind the mountains. This shot shows the summit of the Grand Teton being caressed by clouds as the sun lights them up from behind. One of my all-time favorite places on planet Earth!

Cutoff Mountain lies on the northern border of Yellowstone (the summit is just barely cutoff from the park itself, hence the name) and is always one of my favorite sites as I head toward Lamar Valley each morning....like greeting an old friend every day. I would love to climb it someday, but for now I am content to take in the view from afar.

I've been searching for an opportunity to get another shot like this ever since, but everything hasn't ever quite lined up like this again. Makes me appreciate how lucky I was on that day!

Unfortunately, the light was hitting the big rock behind the bear and creating a very distracting and overpowering blob of blazing color and light back there. Processing the image in black and white brought the focus back where it should be: the adorable bear cub!
